We are taking our first plane ride on June 8 and I am petrified!

We are flying Cincy - Washington - Jhb - Cape Town! = 39 hours of travelling time -- see my problem?

Helena is now 9 months and I've tried making provision for all kinds of surprises -- but there is only so much space in our carry on bags ...

Any advice from parents who have done this kind of thing before with a baby?:D

Hi HISTurner,

That sounds like one long trip for any young one! We have never traveled 39 hours, but some close friends have done several trips to Europe. It sounds like you're already bringing surprises to keep Baby busy it sounds like you are on the right track. A few other things I have heard people trying is to keep them tired before you head out in hopes they will just sleep on the plane. There is always trying to find the Airport play area or simply going for brisk walks if there is a layover.

Here is a past article that talks about travel in more generic terms: Traveling with Baby (http://www.totsites.com/help/baby/traveling-easily-with-baby.php). By no means does it mention a 39 hour trip - but has some other general information.

Once you tackle this adventure please let us all know what you learn!

Brian

Thanks for the input and info Brian.

I think I've read as much on the subject as anyone possibly can, but the most common advise is to expect the unexpected:eek:

I am cautiously optimistic:o

I will certainly give feedback when we get back:rolleyes:
